punkpoptarts Featured By Owner Aug 12, 2014
I bought this as a phone case from either ebay or amazon a very long time ago, I wish I had the link to whoever stole your artwork to make it into that :/

I feel terrible knowing what happened
and to know I bought that shirt today...

This gaming company out of UK is also using this image.

I bought this shirt before I knew that it was stolen, but it was because I really loved the picture!... hopefully that makes up for it...
(also were you trying to make it look like the scene it my neighbor totoro when they were waiting for the bus?)

There's a stupid rule when you sign up to DA that states:

"3.     License To Use Artist Materials. As and when Artist Materials are uploaded to the deviantART Site(s), Artist grants to deviantART a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license."

This means DA can take any art they want, and sell it without giving any money to the original artist. They get all the profit, and DA doesn't have to ask permission.

I absolutely HATE them for it. How could they just sell this beautiful and hard-worked-for piece?

I think you should see…

Then why does the policy say so?
AnimeBlue92 Featured By Owner Edited Jul 16, 2014  Student General Artist
Did you actually read the article? The policy is saying you give them permission to use your artist for commercial purposes only for on DevinatArt Not on any third-party sites or sources.  "The point of question in our Submission Policy is one which gives us the right to present the artwork you submit to deviantART on deviantART. Thus, artwork posted to deviantART may be used in promotional material for deviantART (with all due credit for the work included), but never for non-deviantART commercial purposes, and never without express recognition of the original artist. "

Basically it's saying that if DA wants to use your work on for  promotions on their site, then they can be allowed to do so with your permission and  that they will give credit to you as the artist.

Also you should take a look at this response from the artist of this piece, JJ Harrison.…

In short, when he agreed to allow Cartoon Network to use this work for a comic book cover, he was also agreeing for them to use it anything else. That's completely fair use in my opinion. I'm actually wearing the shirt form now as I type this hahaha. It's such a cool shirt and beautiful artwork!
